- The angle of the ship ladder with the ground should not be less than 75 degrees and not more than 90 degrees.
- Stairs should have at least 18 cm distance between the step and the wall on which they are mounted.
- The width of the cage at the entrance of the staircase should be 10 cm more than the other parts.
- One landing should be built for every 9 meters on the staircase. The length of the landing should not be smaller than 150 cm and the width should not be smaller than 60 cm.
- The landings must be covered with skirting boards and railings (internal link).
- Ladders must be new and manufactured in non-slip construction.
